Residential development in this area only really got underway in the 1990’s so in the great scheme of London living, Clerkenwell is still a relatively new area, but one which is already known for its city lifestyle.
The overall style of the area is tasteful and quirky, with numerous old buildings having been converted into New York style loft spaces for the ultra hip house buyers. This American design trend was instigated by the Manhattan Loft Corporation who created Summer Street in the early nineties and the area swiftly became a seriously sought after living location. Aside from the more industrial renovations, new builds are starting to spring up alongside the original Georgian and Victorian houses.
With close transport links to the West End and the City, it is the perfect place to enjoy all London has to offer without being too far from home. Plus there is a plenty of life for you to enjoy on your door step too with numerous restaurants including Mediterranean, Italian, Asian and Sushi as well as a wealth of lively nightspots in the form of traditional pubs, a world music bar and clubs. There is no doubt something for every taste and requirement.
Nearby underground transport links include Farringdon, Barbican, Chancery Lane, Angel and Old Street. Handy overground statins include City Thameslink, Moorgate and Blackfriars.
There are plenty of schools in the area, from nursery age through to Secondary so you will be spoilt for choice, and with the Spa Fields Park in the heart of the Clerkenwell, with an adventure playground, areas for tennis, football and basketball and nature galore, this is an ideal place for family living too.
